Leading the Sweet Life at Sweetspot.ca
Anyone in need of a daily fix of fashion news, food tidbits or beauty information should make a point of visiting the SweetSpot.ca website. In one twenty minute visit I found out all about the coming trends in springtime trench coats, learned a few things about Marilyn Monroe, scouted out some of the best vintages available in Alberta and even got all of the necessary information to provide my toes with one of the best pedicures in the city!
The site describes itself as “A Guide to the Sweet Life”, but it really should also say the “well informed, uber-cool and highly fashionable” sweet life as well. It offers insider’s guides to Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver as well as a National page, and each is broken down into some easy to use and basic details. These include the “Best of…” which was where I located a list of the city’s top pedicure providers.
There is also the “Sweet Nothing” section, which recently provided a fabulous “Alberta Liquor Guide” that introduced this reader to a Sweetspot specialty beverage concocted with Parma Liqueur, Smirnoff Black Cherry Vodka, Lemonade and a sweet little cherry on top! It was just the right thing to welcome spring’s arrival in my neck of the woods.
The “What’s Happening” pages provided one of the coolest local calendars full of alternative theater, fundraisers, details on a pub crawl and even information about the auto show.
The final section at each city site is the “Sweetspot @” page which provides in-depth coverage of a particularly hip or cool event or location. For instance, the L’Oreal Fashion Week was covered in one article, while the Toronto International Film Festival and the DPA Lounge were looked at in another.
