Traffic Offences – fair to UK citizens?
A friend of mine recently got caught by a speed camera and fined accordingly. Over a beer, we discussed how the DVLA tracked him down via his car registration number which then lead on to the discussion of foreign cars on British roads. As there is no database of these foreign vehicles available to the DVLA, they are able to commit any traffic offence they like without any repercussions? They cannot be traced and therefore cannot be fined or have points added to their licences? We felt this was a blatant discrimination against the tax-paying citizens of the UK and as such, were labelled `racists` in the pub we were drinking in. This slur has remained with us both and so I thought I’d try to gauge other views on this subject? Are we indeed being treated unfairly by our own government?
I agree with what you say , It not just the DVLA that treat us Uk citizens unfairly , to the point that we are now second class citizens in our own country. The problem being we can not do anything about it , because we are labeled racist the second we say anything. The system has to change but how and who will change it is another matter.
