How to remove security bars from windows?
I bought a house 3 years ago with this old, ugly cast iron security bars over the windows. They are screwed in by these screws that are designed to not turn counter-clockwise as the edges of the slot where the screwdriver would push is filed off. How do I get them off?
Cut a deeper screwdriver slot with a dremel tool and cut off wheel. Or, you can get them started a little by using a center punch and hammer, until you can get a vise-grip on them.
Be persistant- there are lots of ways to beat those screws. I like the dremel trick best.
