Joel McHale Tickets – ‘The Soup’ and ‘Community’ Funnyman Joel McHale Hits the Road on Tour

Fans of E!’s show Talk Soup, which ran from 1991 to 2002 with producer-host Greg Kinnear, rejoiced when the cable network brought back the reality show satire program as The Soup in 2004, and the program has continued to flourish thanks to new host Joel McHale. After combing through a week’s worth of television programming, McHale spends a hilarious half-hour at the end of each week pointing out all the ridiculous, bizarre and downright mind-boggling moments in pop culture with his signature searing wit.

No one is safe from McHale’s snipes, even fellow E! stars. McHale regularly harpoons E! News producer/host and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest on The Soup, but Examiner reported that he took it one step further with an April Fool’s prank to top all April Fool’s pranks. McHale hacked into Seacrest’s Twitter account on April 1—the midget jokes were flying—and eventually infiltrated Seacrest’s official website! McHale announced via Facebook: “Check out what I’ve done to Seacrest’s official website … tell your friends!” The site received so many hits that it crashed, after which point McHale tweeted, “Guess ryanseacrest.com crashed from too many visitors. I like to think [Seacrest] couldn’t reach the keyboard high on the desk to keep up.” Ouch!

Like his Talk Soup predecessor Kinnear, McHale is also an actor and currently stars in the brand new NBC comedy Community. According to NBC.com, the smart series centers on an odd bunch of students at Greendale Community College; McHale plays lawyer Jeff Winger (whose degree has been revoked) alongside comedy veteran Chevy Chase (as Peirce). The cast is rounded out by Alison Brie (Mad Men) as perfectionist Annie, Ken Jeong (The Hangover) as Spanish professor Senor Chang, Gillian Jacobs (The Book of Daniel) as 28-year-old dropout Britta, Donald Glover (30 Rock) as former high school football star Troy, Nicole Brown (Rules of Engagement) as middle-age divorcee Shirley and Danny Pudi (Greek) as pop culture junkie Abed.

McHale, who has also appeared on the small screen on Will & Grace and CSI: Miami and the big screen in films like Spider-Man 2, Lords of Dogtown and Pushing Daisies, got his start as a cast member on Comedy Central’s sketch show Almost Live! The University of Washington alum—he was a tight end for their national championship football team—recently starred in Steven Soderberg’s The Informant! opposite Matt Damon in 2009.

Despite his busy film and television schedule, McHale continues to perform stand-up comedy. The A.V. Club recently sat down with McHale to talk about the difference between his stand-up routine and his antics on The Soup. When asked if his live routine compares to The Soup, McHale said, “I talk about myself, because it’s so interesting. I talk about my family. I talk about the things we talk about on The Soup, and behind-the-scenes stuff. It does a little deeper, a little wider. So the stand-up is just expanding on some things I talk about on television, and I talk about my life a little bit. And shark attacks.” To hear McHale take on pop culture and, um, shark attacks, get Joel McHale tickets from StubHub.com.
