What is there to do in the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego, CA?
My girlfriend and I are going to San Diego next weekend. We are planning to stay in San Diego and possibly in the Gaslamp quarter? Is that a good place to stay? Also what are some good restaurants, sports bar, entertainment, malls etc. nearby?
It’s a nice downtown area. Lots of places to eat, drink and party. A very nice mall (Horton Plaza) right there. Everything is walkable. Also, well patrolled and safe if you stay in the gaslamp area. And of course it is centrally located with easy access to museums ferry to Catalina Island, Balboa Park/ Zoo, etc.
Consider the Horton Grand Hotel (www.hortongrand.com) in the middle of the Gas Lamp district (Wyatt Earp lived at this hotel for a while). It’s a Victorian themed hotel with all rooms different. (Pay close attention to the room they assign you and make sure you are not subject to street noise.)
