Which place should I chose to visit: Montreal or Quebec?
Please only answer people who live there or have actually gone.
I am planning a 3 month trip to Canada, I want to practice my French and just meet new people, have a change of scenery. I am 21 female, I like artsy things, not clubbing. Museums, cafés, maybe a nice quiet bar, many different restaurants, I am not interested in any sports activities. Which city would be best for me to visit?
Also, what lodging options would be best for me? And if you could recommend a specific hostel, restaurant, etc. I would greatly appreciate it.
Merci
Please take my advice and pay a visit to Quebec City. Trust me you will not be disappointed. From your list of things you love to do, Quebec City has them all; old world charm, wonderful cafes and restaurants ( the food is to die for) and lots of museums and points of historical interest to visit. You will honestly feel that you are in some little city in Europe. So happy to hear about anyone discovering Quebec City. It is absolutely beautiful and since you are into food as you said….you won’t be dissapointed. While in Quebec City do try Aux Anciens Canadiens for an authentic delicious Quebec meal. It is served by period dressed wait staff in a very old establishment and the food is marvelous. My second choice would be Portafino on the Rue Couillrd….an Italian Bistro with THE BEST EVER oven baked pizza and homemade pasta. Last but not least try the Dorsey Pub for great food and a great atmosphere, a nice quiet pub as you say.
For lodging, try the Clarendon. It is old world, has a spectacular location….right in the heart of old town and the view from the rooms is marvelous.
