Philadelphia, PA sports bar with good food and minimal smoking?
My tailgate party fell through for the Eagles game on Sunday night vs the Cowboys and I am looking for a good restaraunt/sports bar to watch the 4pm late games and get some dinner before the Birds game starts. Any suggestions of places not too far from the Linc that wouldn’t be packed and wouldn’t be too smokey? Thanks!
Almost all of the bars in Philly have banned smoking…it’s a City-wide thing. There are a few scattered about who applied for permits, but outside of that, you probably won’t run into a bar you can smoke in.
There’s a bar called Chickie’s and Pete’s right there by the stadium…can’t miss it. It’s towards the side of Broad Street near I-76. That’s probably your best bet for a good football crowd and some alright bar food.
You could also try McFadden’s at Citizen’s Bank Park. I would think that since the baseball season is over, that might be closed, but I’d also think that with such a huge home game and a big game right before, they may be open. It’s right across from the stadium, so it’s worth looking.
The Broad Street Line also runs into Center City. Not sure about how much of an ordeal you’re willing to make it, but there’s obviously a ton of places in the city to watch the game, then take the train right back to the stadiums.
Worst case, I know a lot of people who will be down there before 4pm to watch both games right in the parking lot. Maybe make some new friends down there and just eat someone’s burgers.
