Decorating help for 1st time apartment?
My fiance and I are getting our first apartment together after living with other people for about a year. It’s finally our place. He’s very much into golf, sports, and bars, while I enjoy art, scrapbooking, nature and working out. He does most of the cooking. How should I balance his taste with mine while decorating? How do I not make the kitchen and bedroom too feminine? And what color towels do you suggest? Since we dont have a lot of money to spend, where are good places to buy inexpensive but pretty furniture?
Congrats on a place of your own! When my husband and I got our first place we had a terrible time deciding what to buy and wound up buying everything too dark. I would go neutral as possible with all furniture and add color with curtains, carpets, pillows and art. This way you can change it all without breaking the bank. As for towels I like white, other colors fade and look old way too quickly, but with a little bleach your white are always good as new. One thing that we also did was bought all of our kitchen tools, and accessories in stainless steel. It gave it a uniform look and not too kitchy. Then I was able again to add my fav color dish towels, vases of flowers, etc. Good luck and happy decorating.
