Why does HD picture not fit on 42″ Vizio LCD?
I just got HD installed on my Vizio, but the HD picture is a little too big for the screen. I notice this particularly on ESPN as the sports scores are cropped off. I can go back to non-HD ESPN and the picture fits perfectly. This appears to be the case on all the HD channels. I am pretty sure that this is a cable box issue and not with the TV as I can 1/2 size the picture to fit entirely on the screen, but it is still cropped around the sides of the picture.
Of less importance (but also annoying), the menu guide is displaying with side bars (4:3 format) in both HD and non-HD. Any way to change this setting in the cable box?
The cable box is a Scientific Atlanta 8240 HDC.
Did you check to see if you have the “zoom” button on? Look on the remote, press it, and it should go back to normal.
