Have estimate for hotel room in Slidell LA (originally from Slidell) 180 @ laquinta. Gas estimate about 100 (to and from not including to city and out on the town). Interested in estimate on french quarter bars and club spending, dinner at places like Raplh and Kacoos, To play @ Harrahs, and any other N.O expenses I may be forgetting.
If you are staying in Slidell because you assume the hotels in the city are more expensive be sure to actually compare (I know you say you are from Slidell). For example, check www.villaconvento.com – which is in the French Quarter and has free parking for guests.
If you stay in Slidell you will have to pay to park downtown, which will be about $20 per day if you can leave your car in one lot/garage the whole day (may be more if you have to move it around). Slidell is also about 30 miles from downtown, so remember to add the cost of 2 to 3 gallons of gasoline per day to the equation.
Most bars in New Orleans have normal prices. A few places on Bourbon Street (mostly clubs with live music) have outrageous drink prices in lieu of a cover charge. Be sure you know the price before you sit down in a music club.
