night clubs layouts
Looking for a waikiki nightclub/lounge?

I’m going there in 2 weeks. What clubs or lounges do you recommend. This is what I’m looking for Friday and Saturday night.

DJ hip hop, top 40s, r&b( no live bands & no house or trance)
21+ only please
bottle/vip service preferrable but not necessary
and a decent place to dance

I have done a bit of research and the places that pop up are

1)Pearl Ultra Lounge: I hear this place is small, has a small dance floor and has a live band at night. This would be my top choice if it wasn’t for the live band. Can someone confirm the live band?

2) Level 4 Nightclub: I heard this place is nice but also heard the layout is not great. Dance floor is horrible. Can anyone confirm?

3) Zanzibar: Heard this place is plane ghetto.

I’ll cover only the clubs I’ve been to, and will hold no bias about its qualities. Whether they are pros or cons, I will leave to you as it all depends on what your expectations are out of the night in Waikiki.

All of the popular clubs have a cover, and I won’t classify the drink costs as expensive or not as if you’ve been to clubs in LA or NY, expensive is relative.

In all cases, come after or around 1AM – this is when they clubs really start to heat up.

Zanzabar
Overall it is a decent club. You get a good mixed crowd and good sound system. Drinks are 6-8 bucks a pop + cover. The line outside is usually long depending on the time you come but you should have no problem getting in. Friday or Saturday are both good days to go.This place is a block away from Lotus Sound Bar. There are an ‘ok’ amount of singles here but also a lot of groups.

Lotus Sound Bar
It’s not a very large place, with two floors. Downstairs usually plays hip-hop, upstairs electronica. The sound system is pretty nice, and they have light and smoke effects upstairs. Drinks are also 6-8 bucks a pop + cover. There’s always a group outside, but you’ll have no problem getting in. Here, you will find most of the people are in guy/girl groups. In my two times being there, I found the crowd to be mostly young college students and not a lot of single women there. It’s a good place if you’re with friends and you’ve invited ladies along for the night. If going solo, when scoping the room, you have to be extra careful you’re not asking to dance with someone’s girlfriend.
Friday is typically livelier.

Level 4 Nightclub
This place is a converted auditorium at night. Very good mix of electronic and hip hop music, and a pretty nice-sized dance floor. You get a very nice mixed crowd. Drinks are within the 7 dollar range + cover. The VIP area is literally on the stage and up in the seats, but it’s pretty cool. This place has a good mix of single women there with their girlfriends. Saturday is a good day to check it out.

My suggestion – you can do Zanzabar and Lotus Sound Bar in the same night. Go to both on Friday, then do Level 4 on Saturday. But if you’re solely looking for the better of the singles scene, Level 4 may work out better for you.
