Going to Montreal for a few days?
My buddies and I are heading up to Montreal for the weekend so all we need is a Picture ID and our birth certificate right? Also where is a good hotel not to pricey but is pretty close to night clubs, bars, and casinos. I’ve never been to Montreal what are the clubs like? Any tips or ideas are welcomed. Also about how much money should i bring?
Yes, you just need picture ID and birth certificate to enter Canada.
(After June 2009, you will supposedly need a passort to get back into the United States, but this deadline keeps getting pushed back).
There are many, many hotels in downtown Montreal. Two off the top of my head are Novotel on Rene-Levesque Street and Sheraton Four Points on Sherbrooke Street.
Montreal’s clubs and bars are more well-known for quantity than quality. A great town to go pub crawling in, but it’s unlikely you will find that any of them are the “best club ever”. Clubs and bars are concentrated in three areas: (1) Crescent St. between Maisonneuve Blvd and Saint-Catherine St (Guy-Concordia subway station); (2) Saint-Laurent street between Sherbrooke St. and Mont-Royal St. (Bus 55 north from Saint-Laurent subway station); and (3) St-Denis St. between Ontario street and Rene-Levesque St. (Berri-UQAM metro station). The very large casino is a bit outside the downtown area; most hotels have a shuttle service to it, or you can take the subway to Jean Drapeau station and take the bus to the casino. A group of buddies may wish to partake of Montreal’s famous strip clubs. Chez Paree on Stanley St. and Club Super-Sexe on Saint-Catherine St. are frequented by tourists. You might see more locals in Wanda’s on Montagne St. or the much cheaper and seedier L’Axe (corner Ontario and St-Denis).
With the exchange rate, you will find that Montreal prices are about 1/4 to 1/3 cheaper than in the United States. In other words, if you bring $400, you’ll have more than $500 worth of fun.
