karaoke bar with private rooms
How much does it cost to open a decent sized Karaoke bar with private rooms and open space in NYC?

I know that there could be several different answers to this question but I’m just looking for a generic cost estimate that would include everything from liquor license, liquor supply, bar supplies, karaoke machine set up and equipment, rent, utilities…etc. Anything to get me a ballpark guesstimate would be much appreciated.

NYC is huge, and rent is enormously different from neighborhood to neighborhood, even from block to block. Anyway, I’d guess start up and operating costs for the first 12 months at about $800k to $1.5M, assuming minimal renovation expense.

For example – taking over a small, 60- person capacity place, in a midtown location, the license, fixtures and equipment will cost about $500K. Rent alone will be $5000 a month. You’d probably want something twice that size for karaoke. Add in liquor, labor, utilities, upkeep, marketing, renovations…
