irish pubs in chicago
Do any of the Irish Pubs in Chicago have open jam sessions?

My friend and I are visiting Chicago next week. She plays the Irish tin whistle and would like to play with some people while we are there. Can anyone recommend a good place that would let a newcommer join?

I know they used to have live traditional Irish music at the Edgewater Lounge (http://www.yelp.com/biz/jr04UNoohYukeco3m2Ev9g). I was there a few years ago and there was a small combo playing Irish music (that small drum thing, a whistle, some sort of stringed instrument). Not sure if they still do it, or if it was open mike, but give them a call and check. If they still do, I wouldn’t be surprised if they let someone sit in.

Also check with the Irish American Heritage Center (http://www.irishamhc.com/5thprovince.asp). They might have a lead on some places

Proud to be Irish!
