Racist mother in law? purpose or just dumb?
I have been dating my boyfriend for two year. He is white (from a farm in Oklahoma) I am Hispanic. We are getting married next July. His mother has asked the most offensive questions since we met.
Have you ever had pizza?
Do catholics pray to priests?
Mind you I grew up in Palm Springs, CA and am pretty upper middle class.
When our parents met she asked my mom how many cups of beans she ate, and then told her I was ashamed to be Mexican! Simply because I told her that we don’t eat chips and queso!
We are getting married, my parents paid to have the reception at a Country Club and my future mother in law keeps asking if we will be doing the mexican hat dance, dressing like oaxacans etc. I am pretty sick and tired of it all and have attempted to explain to her that – Mexico and hispanics ARE NOT like this, but she still insists on saying and doing borderline racist things. I want to blow up on her– what would you do? and do you think she is doing it on purpose?
Sounds like she is fucking with you, but then again all the mexicans I know (I know a lot) do and like most of the things you mentioned.
