Las Vegas: Where is the best place to stay?
I want to be in the spotlight so I don’t have to walk distances to get to places…looking for a very nice hotel worth staying at…any names or ideas? I’ve never been to Vegas so all your input would be helpful. I know it’s very affordable nowadays. If we go…interests would be comedy, broadway shows, I don’t care for gambling at all, and just going out to dinner….or maybe going to a dance club.
Thank you…
what time of year is the best time to go? just all around cool temperature like 75 – 85 degrees.
April and May are good times of the year to go – warm, but not incredibly hot yet.
I like staying in the center strip area, because you can pretty easily walk just about everywhere else on the strip. There is also a lot to do in that particular area. My favorite hotels, in that area, are Caesars and Venetian. Both are really nice places, with nice rooms, great locations, and lots to do in and around the resorts. The Venetian rooms are suites – even the standard ones – and are particularly nice. There is also great high-end shopping at both places. Bellagio is another really nice place in that area as well – very classy.
If you are looking for something a little less pricey, you might try Mirage, which is also in the center-strip area. MGM and Mandalay Bay are toward the south end, but are nice places as well, and that is another fairly active area. The new City Center also looks amazing.
As for things to do:
*Shows – you might like Penn & Teller (comedy/magic), Lance Burton (magic), Wayne Brady (comedy), Blue Man Group (comedy/music), Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys, & Lion King (Broadway-style shows), or any of the Cirque shows.
*Madame Tussaud’s wax museum at Venetian
*Dolphin Habitat & Secret Garden at Mirage
*Lion Exhibit at MGM
*Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
*Bellagio conservatory
*Free shows on the strip – Bellagio fountains, Mirage volcanoes, Treasure Island pirates
*Fremont Street Experience downtown at night
Dinner ideas
*Top of the World at Stratosphere – revolves, great view
*Mon Ami Gabi and Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris
*Delmonicos at Venetian
*Rio buffets
There are tons of other great places to eat, shows to see, etc. But this gives you a few ideas.
