i need some advice on being a stand up comic?
hi. i just had a question about this job i really want. i want to be a stand up comic really bad. im really funny and i can preform in front of people im 14 years old and i kniow this is what i want to persue. but it is one of those things were i dont know were to start. i live about 15 mins away from downtown chicago so theres some comedy clubs down there but i need advice on how to start. can anyone help?
First you need to find and expand ‘your type’ of humor.( Chappelle does racial humor, Seinfeld did situational, Carrot top does prop humor.) Than you need to go out and increase your library of this comedy.
Some of the best comics I know are ones that are very natural, if they get some hecklers in the crowd they know how to make a joke with it on the fly and don’t crumble. This will only come with practice and confidence.
If you are truly serious about this the only thing you can do is practice, and see if they have any amateur comedian nights at the night clubs and test your talent out. Good Luck!
