San Diego underground (non-tourist) spots?
Ok everyone is talking about the Zoo, Gas Lamp, Old Town, Coronado Island, ETC. Thats cool, now what about the really cool spots. The Coffee houses, The Bars, The Comedy hours, Surfers hang outs,Uniqe restaurants, etc. If you know of any let us know…
Example.
Down Town Colorado springs has a authentic Morrocan Restaurant, you take off your shoes, sit on the floor and eat with your fingers while belly dancers dance all around, its called Mattam Fez.
Coffee shop off east tejon colorado springs, sip coffee on antique furniture.
Dirty Nelly’s Bar, River Walk San Antonio TX, Drink while the pianoist plays any song you can think of, to include college fight songs.
Pizza joint downtown salt lake city, sign your name on the wall. and get pizzas as big as your table.
Techno Bar in Chicago, underneath of a club. Watch people Break and get drunker then hell, and dance!
These are the kind of places i’m looking for. Who wants to go to the zoo, there is more somewhere
Phils BBQ has to be the best bbq I’ve had and is consistently ranked as SD’s #1 BBQ place every year. They just opened a new location on Sports Arena Blvd. During the typical rush they wait can be an hour or longer b/c it’s so popular with locals.
Hash House in Hillcrest has the best breakfast in San Diego and has recieved numerous awards and #1 Breakfast place ranking. The portions are big and the food is amazing.
There is this Thai Resuarant in Pacifc Beach, I can’t remember the name, but it’s on Garnett Ave between Mission Blvd and Bayard St right across from PB Bar and Grill and Moondoggies. They have a room where you can sit on the floor and enjoy some really good thai food.
Blarney Stone in Clairmont Mesa is a great Irish Bar that has a performer Thu, Fri, and Sat nights that plays authentic Irish drinking songs and makes people in the crowd chug their beer. It’s a pretty cool place to go and have fun and sing Irish drinking songs.
On Brodaway in Downtown is an enourmous club, it’s like 5 seperate clubs rolled into one giant one and is really fun.
Every Tuesday at Moondoggies Bar and Grill in Pacific Beach there is free comedy and $2 pints. Also the Comedy Store in La Jolla has good shows.
There are also Bullfights in Tijuana if something like that interests you. And TJ in general is an interesting place to visit for the day or if you want to get crazy at night too.
That’s pretty much all I can think of right now, if I think of some more I’ll come back and edit and add more info.
