Toronto or New York: Where should I take my hols this summer???
I want to go to North America in summer. I’d really like to see both New York and Toronto, but I can only afford to do one. Which one should I go to?
To be honest, I am leaning towards Toronto. My mates went to NYC a few years back and they said it was disappointing; mostly hype and all show and no go. The people are said to be loud and rude, and I’ve heard that restaurant and bar staff won’t even do their jobs unless you tip them stupid amounts of money.
However, I’ve heard Toronto has brilliant nightlife, excellent pubs, lots of culture, and is an all around great time, especially in summer. Being in Canada, there is also a certain ‘Britishness’ to the city that seems to sit well with travellers from the UK.
I must admit that I am not the most adventurous traveller. I prefer going places with a bit of British flavour if possible.
Any thoughts on where I should go??
To be honest, I can only handle a weekend in both places if I didn’t know anybody there. New York is fine to see the sights if you have never been and there are more sights in New York than Toronto. New York is hectic and Toronto is a lot more relaxing. If you want nightlife, go to New York. if you want a leisurely relaxing holiday, go to Toronto.
