Your Kitchen or Patio May Benefit From a Pub Table and Chairs

If you are looking to find some furniture to fill up patio space or extra room in the kitchen, you might want to consider a pub table and chairs. These tables are much smaller than your dining room table and often sit higher up from the ground, requiring higher chairs or bar stools. Due to the added height, pub furniture appears to take up little room because there is more visible space between the table surface and the floor. It adds a classic look and comfortable seated nook to your kitchen or patio, while keeping the room feeling open and uncluttered.

If you have a nice patio area, especially one with a view, you should utilize this area to its full potential. One option is to purchase or build an outside bar table that runs parallel to the outlying landscape and furnish it with four to six barstools. This design is great if you do not have a very deep patio. If you do have a wider patio, however, you might want to go the pub table and patio bar stools route. You can purchase two or three tables that can accommodate three to four chairs each, which provides you with a great deal more outside seating. This set up is a perfect for entertaining, and family and friends alike will enjoy sipping drinks and eating appetizers out on the patio.

Many designs for pub furniture are different from the style one might have seen in the first British pubs in the early 1800’s. A pub, which is the shortened name for the term public house, originated in the Medieval period, during which these places were called alehouses. These early taverns were developed for travelers and often seconded as an inn or hotel. The beer and ale in these first pubs was always homebrewed and soon, these places were frequented by the locals as well. The pub quickly became a social gathering place and the practice of meeting one’s friends at the local pub is a tradition that has carried over to the twenty-first century. There are more than 57,000 pubs in Great Britain today!

Pub tables and bar stools have come a long way from the early wooden benches and chairs. Furniture designers have developed more comfortable seats and higher tables with the most modern designs in mind.  This type of furniture has become very popular in homes through Europe and North American today in both inside and outside settings.
