Never been to New York City, where do i start?

Hey, never used this before and never been to N.Y.C. i hear great things about the city and am interested in some sight seeing and partying. I’m going on wednesday the 5th to the 9th to visit a friend. He’ll be busy with law school during the day, so i’ll be on my own. Is there any place other then the regular places (statue of liberty, rockerfeller, central park, wall street…) that is worth checking out? A secret that New Yorkers know. Also, any good bars..like clubs, but am more of a bar/lounge kinda guy…Coming from Toronto so don’t really need to go to a club, unless its somewhere where i have to go to. I’ll be staying near Fordham University…I think. Should i buy the New York pass ($95) and should i get 7 day transit pass. I have no idea what there is to do in March in New York City. Any great wing places, any must try deli’s or food places? love sports, music, beer (that might be harder find cause i’m canadian), and partying. Any suggetions will be a great help.

OK so the folks above gave you the tourist run down – the sites, but you are a nightlife guy who wants to do the town.

Here is a link to the Village Voice.

Go to the NYC Life tab and select the Bar/Club location and type that you want. The reviews are brutally honest and on target,

Yes do take in a few sites in the day time, but find a place with women and fun, not far from where you are staying, at night. Hey, there is nothing better than visiting a town and finding a place at night that fits you, the night time can be your time. Take in the sites and get those gifts in the day!

I’m an older guy than you, so my spots would not be yours. Consider each night an adventure, don’t travel to far from the crib and enjoy.

BTW = I’ve met many a Canadian here, the last one was a really nice guy who decided to make every one in a very understated bar his friend, at first he was met with indifference, if not some annoyance. When the people there realized he was no drunken fool, and was genuinely nice he was accepted and had great time. The ladies loved him!
